Privacy Policy

Overview
CallCue is a privacy-first mobile application. Your contacts, call notes, and campaigns stay on your device. There are no accounts and no cloud sync. The app sends two kinds of data off the device: usage analytics, which help us improve CallCue and which you can turn off, and feedback messages that you choose to send us.
Data Stored on Your Device
Everything you enter into CallCue—contacts, call notes, campaigns, templates, and holidays—is stored locally on your device using SQLCipher with AES-256 encryption. This means:
- Your data is encrypted at rest
- Your contacts, phone numbers, notes, templates, and campaign names are never uploaded
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of it
Usage Analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase (Google) to understand how CallCue is used, so we can improve it and decide where to promote it. The app records events such as:
- Onboarding progress (which steps you viewed, and whether you finished or skipped)
- The holiday calendar countries you choose
- Contacts imported or added, recorded as counts and the category you picked
- Campaigns created and completed, with the call channel (phone or WhatsApp) and the number of contacts
- Calls, texts, and emails you start from the app (the channel and the screen you started from), and the call outcomes you log (for example "no answer"), including whether you added a note but never the note itself
- Templates and holidays you create (their category only)
- Screens viewed, language changes, report exports, and feedback sent (its type only)
- Interactions with the share and rate prompts, including which app you shared CallCue through when Android reports it
To group usage, we also record a few broad characteristics: the range your number of contacts falls in (for example "25–99"), whether your categorized contacts are mostly clients and prospects or mostly family and friends, the range of your number of campaigns, whether WhatsApp is installed, and your app language.
Firebase also collects some data automatically: an app instance ID, device model, OS version, app version, approximate country or region (derived from your IP address), session and engagement timing, and install source (Google Play referrer).
What is never sent to analytics: contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, call notes, template text, campaign names, or any other content you enter. We do not collect the Android advertising ID (the AD_ID permission is removed from the app), and ad personalization is turned off.
You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy → "Share usage analytics" (on by default). Turning it off stops analytics collection on that device.
Feedback You Send
If you use Send Feedback, your message goes to our support system (Butler CRM) together with:
- The feedback type and your message
- Your email address, only if you choose to enter one so we can reply
- App version and build, device manufacturer and model, OS version, screen size, language, time zone, and the screen you were on
- A random ID created by the app for this installation, so we can tell messages from the same device apart
Feedback never includes your contacts. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
How We Use Data
- Understand which features are used so we can improve the app (usage analytics)
- Measure which markets, languages, and channels CallCue reaches so we can decide where to promote it (usage analytics)
- Read and answer your feedback, and fix the problems you report
Permissions
CallCue requests the following device permissions:
- Contacts (read and write) — To import contacts from your phone book, and to keep changes you make in CallCue (such as a new contact or a category label) in sync with it. Contact data stays on your device.
- Notifications — For holiday reminders. Reminders are scheduled on your device and restored after a restart.
- Internet — To send usage analytics and the feedback you choose to send.
To place a call, CallCue opens your phone's dialer or WhatsApp. It does not request phone permissions and never reads your call log or call history.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising. The only third parties that receive data are:
- Google (Firebase Analytics): receives the usage analytics described above
- Butler CRM (our support system): receives the feedback messages you send
Data Retention & Deletion
Data on your device is under your control. To delete it, clear the app's data in your device settings or uninstall the app. Neither requires contacting us.
Event-level analytics data is kept for the retention period we set in Google Analytics (no longer than 14 months) and then deleted; after that, reports hold only aggregated totals. Analytics data is not linked to your name, phone number, or email, so we cannot look it up by those. Turning analytics off stops any further collection.
Feedback is kept for as long as we need it to respond and improve the app. To have your feedback deleted, email us at the address below.
Data Safety (Google Play)
As declared in CallCue's Google Play Data safety section:
- Location: approximate location (derived by Firebase Analytics from your IP address)
- App activity: app interactions (Firebase Analytics); other user-generated content (feedback messages you send)
- App info and performance: diagnostics sent with feedback (device, OS, and app version)
- Device or other IDs: Firebase app instance ID; the app's random installation ID sent with feedback
- Personal info: email address, only if you include it with feedback
Data Security: Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Data on your device is encrypted at rest (AES-256).
Data Usage: Analytics (understanding app usage and measuring marketing reach) and developer communications (answering feedback).
Data Sharing: No data sold or shared for advertising; the advertising ID is not collected. Users can turn off analytics at any time in Settings ("Share usage analytics").
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area, our legal bases are:
- Legitimate interest: understanding and improving how the app is used (usage analytics). You can object at any time by switching off "Share usage analytics" in Settings.
- Consent: feedback, which is sent only when you choose to send it.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
CallCue is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through feedback, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how CallCue handles data, we will update this policy and the date above, and describe the change in the app store release notes.
